Communication is a great thing for our society. The Problems Of Junk Email or SPAM! Communication is a great thing for our society. The power of e-mail is that you get instant gratification to your communication with someone. More so than waiting for a letter to arrive via regular mail. As with most changes, sometimes there's a price to pay. In the world of e-mail, that price is an invasion of privacy, a waste of your valuable time and possible computer virus infection, among others. One of the biggest problem of junk mail on the Internet is centered around commercial e-mail. For example: You may have signed up to receive some newsletter on finance or something. This is considered a proper invitation to the company providing that information to communicate with you. There are those out there, however, who do not have your permission to send you e-mail and yet they do anyway! A Friend Can Unknowingly Become Your Worst Nightmare You
have heard people say "Don't open any email if you do not know who it
is from". Yes that is true, however it is email that comes from someone
you know that can really hurt you. The real danger in email is the viruses
that get spread by someone you know, who in fact has no idea that they
have just sent you a virus. That one factor is something that even the
virus companies cannot effectively deal with. When
someone you know gets a virus, many times it sends itself to your
friends entire address book. You would then get this virus and because
it was your friend you did not suspect there was anything wrong. This
has caused many people a lot of grief. Until
now there was no real way for the end user to stop e-mail from an
unauthorized source. Or better yet render any potentially harmful
attachment harmless. Some
filtering technology is there, however, junk mailers, or Spammers as
they are called, are very good at their craft and are able to outsmart
e-mail programs. However that is where having a smart filter
comes in handy. Something that has self-learning filters can help you
put real control in the volume of mail that keeps arriving in your
inbox everyday. Also, a smart filter should have the ability to render potential email viruses harmless. The subject of smart flitering is best covered by clicking here: We will cover more on smart filtering in future articles. Sincerely, Robert Jensen Your Spam Control Advisor |
