How Do We Know What Spam Is?

Before we can
know what Spam is, it is important to know what is NOT spam. Spam
Control is quickly becoming a requirement in todays world. See what the new Spam Law - Can-Spam Act says. (http://www.mailboxfilter.org/Spam_Articles/Spam_Law/What_is_Not_Spam%3F/)

Email ID is not new!

Email ID should be controlled (http://www.mailboxfilter.com/)by the end user! Using Email ID is a great concept. However, the big guns on the net propose that this be a server side only solution. There has still been no incorporation of the end user in all this.

Sensorship by AOL is Risky

AOL blocking websites promoted by alleged spam, due to complaints of some of it's members is very risky in my opinion. It is this sort of sensorhip that borders on constitutional infringement.

This one size fits all mentality will never work. I think it would be more appropriate for AOL to allow it's members to TURN ON or TURN OFF this URL blocking scheme. They have the technology to do it, but why make it system wide?

It should be the USERS choice. Why would I want to let some other person decide what sites I would or would not like to see? If I like vitamins, and they don't, why should they get to have a say so? Ok that is the problem with this approach.

So Now They Decide To Survey?

I find it very ironic that now a survey is being done of the internet community for suggestions about the new Can-Spam act! It never ceases to amaze me how government can continue to do things backwards.

The time to survey was BEFORE the new law was in place. Well if you never felt heard before, now is your chance. One of todays newsfeeds provides the instructions on how to make your suggestions about the new law.
